Diversity Champion Award for Housing Sector

Paul has been shortlisted for his work within the LGBT Community for his contribution in establishing specialist services. In 2010 Paul was appointed to a tasks force tasked with re – designing diabetes care within West London. After successfully establishing an improved, patient lead service Paul set up the first LGBT Diabetes support group. In 2014 Paul began volunteering for a charity. As part of this he developed a UK pioneering Supported Housing Service for Gay and Bisexual men with “Chemsex” drug issues and/or Domestic Violence. Paul designed the service based on a peer lead approach and as a recovering addicted himself realised the power and importance of lived experience. The service has already shown an 86% success rate on complete drug abstinence within its first 6 months, and a 0% crime rate. In addition to this Paul has also developed and trained a number of services in same sex domestic violence and Chemsex use and is chair of a task force exploring treatment, and support for Chemsex users.
