Diversity Champion Award for Education Sector
Inclusion For All (IFA) founder Shaun Dellenty is the proudly gay Deputy Head of Alfred Salter School. A survivor of homophobic bullying, Dellenty’s outstanding work addressing this issue in our schools has been phenomenal. Shaun devised IFA after 15 years of witnessing school staff unable or unwilling to prevent LGBT+ bullying. IFA’s pioneering training has featured in the national press and on television, reaching 8,700 school staff with 98% of delegates rating IFA training outstanding. Shaun recounts his journey in assemblies across the UK and he has advised on policy at Westminster. He is supporting Show Racism the Red Card to deliver government funded anti-LGBT+ bullying teacher training and advises Amnesty Teachers. IFA’s anti-homophobia schools tour ‘BOY’ launched in February, with ongoing ‘pop up’ conferences around the UK (recommended by the Church of England). Shaun’s passion, resilience and commitment to eradicating LGBT+ prejudice in education and beyond is truly astonishing and deserves to be applauded nationwide.
